3-DAY WORKSHOP ON RESEARCH GRANT PROPOSAL WRITING, REVIEWING AND EVALUATING RESEARCH GRANT PROPOSALS, "GRANTSMANSHIP" AND GRANT MANAGEMENT

A three (3) day workshop was organised by the KNUST Office of Grants and Research (OGR) in collaboration with the BSU III project and the West Africa Built Environment Research (WABER) Conference . The workshop was from the 23rd to 25th July 2018 with the first two (2) days held at the Amonoo-Neizer (IDL) Conference Centre, and the last day held at the School of Graduate Studies.
The topics treated included but not limited to:
- Writing winning research grant proposals
- Reviewing and evaluating research grant proposals
- “Grantsmanship” and grant management
The Topics were handled by two facilitators who were in the persons of:
- Dr Charmaine Williamson, Consultant & Adjunct Faculty at University of South Africa (UNISA)
- Dr Gaelle Ramon, Manager: Researcher Development, University of Cape Town, Research Office
The participants comprised Reviewers and Principal Investigators (PI) for the KReF round 4 Call, applicants for the Future Leaders-African Independent Researcher (Flair) Fellowship Call, Some Assistant Registrars, College Research Administrators and personnel from the OGR.
The Director of OGR said he was happy knowing that the young and enthusiastic participants of the workshop will champion the course of proposal writing and Grantsmanship. He encouraged participants that though the road may be rough, they must fight on. He also appealed to participant to go and increase local capacity with the new knowledge acquired. He thanked both the facilitators and participants for making the workshop a success.
