It is my pleasure to welcome you on behalf of the Advisory Board and the staff of the Office of Grants and Research, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, to our website. The Office of Grants and Research was established in 2013 under the Vice Chancellor’s Office as a central unit for facilitating and coordinating grants and research administration.
Research is a key mandate of higher educational institutions. Research provides a relevant tool for building knowledge for learning, understanding various issues, as well as increasing public awareness on various issues. In doing this, research provides opportunity to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
Our teaching and community engagements and outreaches should be informed by our research findings. However, we cannot undertake any meaningful research without adequate funding. Nonetheless, attracting funding has become so competitive in the face of dwindling funding opportunities partly due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
At OGR, we provide tailored-made support to both our established and early career researchers. We provide information on pre-ward, award and post award services. We do this by supporting the growth of the research enterprise of the University through provision of grants and research support to researchers, ensuring compliance to institutional policies and guidelines, safeguarding the University’s interests in research-related matters, and ensuring accountability of research funds.
All these services are rendered by the OGR in line with Theme Two (Impactful Research and Innovation) of the University’s Action Plan (Vision 2020–2024),aimed at transforming our University to become a research intensive University by providing solutions to many challenges confronting societies through cutting edge research.
