Current broadcasters do not research - Tommy Annan-Forson

Veteran broadcaster, Tommy Annan-Forson has expressed worry over failure by broadcasters to do enough research before disseminating  the news and information.

He noted that the trend is one of the main reasons why presenters and broadcasters make common mistakes when they pronounce simple words on air.

“I think people (broadcasters) do not do a lot of research before coming out with news or something. People just come on air and just speak any kind of language, insults, sarcasm, and mispronunciation of very simple words,” he observed.

The Lifetime Achievement Award winner said this in an interview with Doreen Andoh on the Cosmopolitan Mix on Joy FM Friday.

Mr Forson said that, there is so much naivety on the part of people who think that standing behind a microphone is everything.

He noted that, “microphone can destroy, microphone can create. It can make you or unmake you. So what I tell people is, listen to radio, practice, practice, [and] practice. The biggest room in this world is room for improvement.”

The former host of the Super Morning Show on Joy FM confessed that he loves to hear broadcasters like Doreen Andoh and Kwame Sefa Kayi show mastery of the English language and in pronunciation.
