Elsevier collaborates with NCTE to provide books

Accra, Aug. 17, GNA – Elsevier has collaborated with the National Council for Tertiary Education (NCTE), to provide nearly 45,000 students and faculty at 38 Colleges of Education with access to 2,000 book through ScienceDirect College Edition.

ScienceDirect College Edition is Elsevier’s full-text platform for research literature, tailored towards institutes of higher education.

A statement signed by Mohammed Sayed of Elsevier and copied to Ghana News Agency said a three-year license agreement was signed by Elsevier Chairman, Youngsuk Chi and NCTE’s Executive Secretary, Prof. Mohammed Salifu.

The signing ceremony brought together government representatives, university leaders, policy experts, scientists and researchers.

The agreement is to support the efforts of Ghana’s academic community to enhance education and further stimulate research and innovation.

The statement quoted Professor Salifu as saying: “The Colleges of Education now have access to ScienceDirect, a very important resource which empowers faculty and students with access to high-quality, up-to-update information.”

“This access is crucial, but it is equally important to build capacity and train faculty and students so that they can effectively use the content they now have access to.

“We look forward to this collaboration with Elsevier and working together to build capacity within the Colleges of Education,” he added.

Younsuk Chi said: “Elsevier is deeply committed to supporting Ghana’s capabilities in education, research, and innovation. Going forward, we are excited to further increase our engagement with the educational and scientific communities in Ghana to support the country as it continues along this strong trajectory.”
