The Office of Grants and Research (OGR), KNUST wishes to inform the university community of a funding opportunity from the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN).

The NCSBN Grant Program provides funding for scientific research projects that advance the science of nursing policy and regulation, and help build regulatory expertise worldwide.

Allowable Expenses:

Grant funds may be used for activities directly related to the research process, including:

  • Data collection, processing, and statistical analysis

  • Consultant fees (maximum $250/day)

  • Reproduction or distribution of surveys or other research tools

  • Travel to study sites (maximum $1,500, including dissemination such as conference presentations)

  • Research assistant support

  • Other direct research-related expenses

Note: Funding cannot be used for reimbursement of previously purchased items, durable goods, tuition, office supplies, or indirect costs such as administrative overhead.


Research Priorities:

Projects may focus on, but are not limited to:

  • Outcome studies related to nursing regulation

  • Nursing workforce research

  • Substance use disorders among nurses

  • New technologies impacting the profession

  • Regulatory implications of practice innovations or new care models

  • LPN, RN, and APRN scope of practice

  • Policy impact on nursing

All proposals that provide data to inform nursing policy and support regulation are welcomed.


How to Apply:

  • Applications must be submitted using the NCSBN Grant Application Form by 11:59 PM CST on the submission deadline.

  • Proposals must follow APA formatting, double-spaced (excluding CVs, biographical sketches, budget, and timeline).

  • Section 2: Project Details must not exceed 7,000 words (excluding references).

  • Appendices such as letters of support, survey instruments, or models may be included.
