The Office of Grants and Research (OGR), KNUST, invites the university community to apply for the ANeSA – Addressing Neglected Areas of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights in sub-Saharan Africa programme, funded by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Global Affairs Canada (GAC), and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR). The programme supports implementation research that addresses neglected sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) priorities for underserved populations across sub-Saharan Africa.

Objectives

  • Support implementation research addressing neglected sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) priorities in sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Strengthen access to quality family planning and contraceptive services.
  • Improve safe abortion and post-abortion care where legally permitted.
  • Advance adolescent SRHR, sexual and gender-based violence prevention and response, and SRHR advocacy.
  • Promote sustainable, evidence-informed, and gender-transformative interventions.

Eligibility

  • Implementation Research Teams led by a researcher based in sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Lead applicants must be affiliated with an eligible institution in an eligible country, including Ghana.
  • Research teams must meet the composition and eligibility requirements outlined in the Call for Letters of Interest.

Application Process

Applicants should prepare and submit a Letter of Interest through the IDRC application portal before the application deadline. Interested applicants are encouraged to attend the informational webinar scheduled for 15 July 2026 to learn more about the funding opportunity and application requirements.
