Research Ethics

The OGR is passionate and committed to upholding the highest ethical standards of integrity and responsible conduct in research. As an Office, Ethics in research is our priority. We strive to provide resources and support to ensure that all research activities comply with established ethical guidelines, policy and legal requirements. Some of these activities from the OGR include.

Ethics Training

The office organises training on ethics and integrity and the principles of responsible research conduct, such as informed consent, data privacy, conflict of interest management, publication ethics and authorship, and how to write research protocols and respond to Ethics Review Comments.

Ethics Committee Support

The university has Ethics Committees that provide guidance in preparing and submitting protocols for ethical review to protect the rights and welfare of research participants. The committees include

  1. The Committee on Human Research and Publication Ethics (CHRPE)
  2. The Animal Research Ethics Committee (AREC)
  3. Humanities and Social Sciences Research Ethics Committee (HuSSREC)
  4. Biosafety Ethics Committee (BEC)
