Dr. Daniel K.B. Inkoom, a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Planning said research management is key to successful research enterprise.
Dr. Inkoom’s passion for research has led to his involvement in many research and community activities. His research spans from his role in the ENRECA Project funded by DANIDA from 1997-2003 on “Community Initiatives in Planning” to the Association of Africa Planning Schools (AAPS) work on Case Study Research and key issues relating to Planning Education from an African viewpoint. He has undertaken a number of research assignments for United Nations Organizations and other entities, including issues of involuntary resettlement due to mining.
Dr. Inkoom believes that research management and administration can be improved by building the capacity of support staff. He emphasized the need for Research Administrators to take care of the day-to-day management of research to allow time for researchers to concentrate on actual research. In his view, improving the student- lecturer ratio will enable lecturers dedicate sufficient time for research. He also recommends collaborative research across academic disciplines as a way of generating knowledge.
Dr. Inkoom has a PhD in Spatial Planning with a focus on Resource and Environmental Management from the Technical University of Dortmund, Germany and a Master of Science Degree from KNUST. He also holds Certificates in International Development Studies from the University of Oslo, Norway, Organization and Systems Development from the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland, Ohio, USA and Forest Policy Analysis from the, European Forestry Institute in Joensuu, Finland.
