Background
The Office of Grants and Research is delighted to announce an exciting opportunity for faculty members to develop compelling grant proposals and submit to external funding agencies. The Off-Campus Proposal Writing Retreat is designed to provide a focused and supportive environment for faculty members to dedicate time and effort to developing strong grant proposals. The retreat aims to enhance proposal writing skills, facilitate collaborations, and ultimately increase your chances of securing funding for your research projects. The retreat comes off at the Nyansapo Eco Resort, Moree in the Central Region of Ghana.
During the retreat, participants will have the opportunity to:
- Engage in dedicated writing time: uninterrupted blocks of time to focus on their grant proposals without the usual distractions from other duties.
- Receive expert guidance: experienced grant writers and research managers will be available to provide individualized feedback and support throughout the retreat.
- Plenary discussions: discussions will be organized to address key aspects of proposal development, including research approach/methodology, theory of change, budgeting and consortium management.
- Collaborate and network: participants will have the opportunity to share ideas, seek input, and explore potential research collaborations with colleagues from other disciplines
Eligibility:
All faculty members of KNUST are eligible to apply
Both early-career and established researchers are encouraged to apply

Complete the application form via this link
Documents Required:
A concept note in response to a funding opportunity. The concept note must detail the research gap, research objectives, proposed methodology, data analysis methods and the research team (Maximum 5 pages)
Two-page curriculum vitae (indicate list of most recent research grants and publications).
Selection Criteria:
Applications will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
Significance and potential impact of the proposed research project
Clarity and feasibility of the project objectives
Applicant’s research drive and commitment to actively participate in the retreat
Potential for collaboration and interdisciplinary exchange
Important Dates:
Application Deadline: Friday, 8th September, 2023
Notification of Acceptance: Monday, 16th 0ctober, 2023
Date for Retreat: 13th -17th November, 2023
Further Information
Accepted participants will receive full sponsorship for transportation, accommodation and meals during the retreat. Further details regarding travel arrangements will be communicated to selected participants.
